Kansas Bluestem Prairie Grass - Upholstery Thread

I recently took a trip back to the land that nurtured me as I grew. Sometimes the city gets too bright, too loud, and I need to escape back to the sweet smelling grasses and rolling hills. For two weeks I wandered the prairie, taking single leaves from strong stalks of bluestem so as not to prevent future growth. These grasses had a new shape to teach me. One of ribbons and waves, as if the winds and hills were reaching through.
This piece will continue to change. As the still living plants will go from green spring to the tan and brown of winter so too will the green fade. A gentle reminder that even though I’m far from them the grasses are still waving in the winds and soaking up the sun.
